Somatic Gatherings are guided by the principles and techniques of Somatic Experiencing. Our objective is to mobilize the body's inherent capacity for self-healing. At the core of these meetings are 'Our Resources'—the indispensable tools for emotional regulation. In my terminology, these are the pebbles in your pocket that you can rely on when life gets rough.
We always begin sessions with grounding and resourcing practices. This is the most direct way to signal to your nervous system: "You are safe, you are supported, you are here now." Through these learned somatic exercises, when you face a moment of distress, you learn to process the emotion within the body rather than engaging in a draining mental battle.
